Alde 3010 Problems

The Alde 3010 heating system, especially its more advanced model the Alde 320 high-efficiency system, is popular in caravans such as the Elddis Affinity 2015. But like all appliances, it can come with its fair share of issues. One frequently reported problem is a drone-like noise from the pump, especially noticeable at night. Let’s delve into the common issues and their potential solutions:

  1. Noisy Pump During Operation:
    • Some users have noticed a constant drone when the pump runs. It is especially pronounced at night.
    • The system has settings for continuous and therm. Using the therm setting might reduce this noise.
    • There’s an additional setting for a 12v pump or an extra 12v pump. When the extra 12v pump is selected, the noise is louder. Switching to 12v pump alone may silence the noise but might not heat the system.
  2. Unclear Pump Settings:
    • Some users have reported confusion about a rumored control setting ranging from 1-5, with 2 being the standard. However, not all models or panels display this option.
    • It’s essential to differentiate between the Alde 3010 model and the Alde 3020 compact version. The latter should have a sticker indicating its type.
  3. Pump Positioning:
    • Some pumps are located inside the header tank, while others might be on the main boiler.
    • Pumps inside the header tank generally operate at one speed.
  4. Gurgling Noises:
    • A gurgling sound can indicate air in the system, especially after a glycol change.
    • To fix this, you might need to locate all the bleeders in the system to release the trapped air.
    • Once the air is released, the glycol level may need a top-up. The ideal level, when cold, should be about 1cm above the minimum line level.
  5. Pump Level Setting Confusion:
    • Some users, especially those with touchscreen panels, found a section discussing pump level settings, ranging from 1 to 5. However, this setting is meant only for a remote 12v inline pump.
    • Users with the Alde 3010 compact boiler having the circulation pump inside the expansion tank do not have adjustable pump speed.
  6. Pump Longevity:
    • Over time, pumps can weaken, affecting their performance.

Recommended Solutions:

  • Consult the Manufacturer: Alde’s customer service has been recognized as being responsive and helpful. Direct contact can clear up model-specific questions.
  • Regular Maintenance: Ensure the glycol level is correct, especially after any system changes or updates. Regularly checking for and releasing airlocks can also prevent unwanted noises and ensure efficient heating.
  • Understand Your Model: Some functionalities and settings are specific to certain models. It’s essential to know your exact model and its features to avoid confusion.

In conclusion, while the Alde 3010 heating system is known for its efficiency, it’s essential to understand its specific features and carry out regular maintenance. For any persistent or unusual issues, reaching out to the manufacturer or a professional technician is always a wise decision.
